I especially love to indulge in Nick Broomfield documentaries such as Kurt and Courtney, Heidi Fliess: Hollywood Madam, and my personal favorite, Fetishes. I've seen the doc close to 20 times, and my introduction of the film to a friend once inspired her own career as professional dominatrix (oops). However, she found Jesus (again) and now she's married somewhere, probably with a litter of children. Anyway, I digress. I tend to view fetishes as I do phobias, except your brain tells you the irrational thing turns you on instead of the irrational thing scares you. I'd take a fetish over a phobia anyday, wouldn't you? People view fetishes to be a release, and although on the surface it is sexual in nature, it's mainly a release of deep rooted emotion.

Like Bob for example. We'll call this fictional character with a fetish Bob. Once when Bob was 5, he became sexually aroused by playing with his mothers undergarments. Then Bob's mom catches him and yells and screams at him "For shame!" WOOSH. She throws a stilleto heel at Bob's head. Bob will now most likely grow up to have a foot fetish of some kind. He might enjoy licking womens boots, or being their "submissive." Trauma + Sex + An Early Age In Developement = Fetish. At least this is how I rationalize the cause and effect. Most likely the event that caused Bob's fetish will remain unconcious to him. But they always, and I do mean ALWAYS, stem from trauma.

Ok now... here's where I get to the nitty gritty of this blog. Furrys. What the fuck is that all about?? These crazy ass furry people desire to transform from human to animal. Mostly mammals, especially foxes, and sometimes even reptiles or fish, etc. Did these kids get catch masturbating with their Teddy Ruxpin when they were a kid? Did the baby sitter beat them senseless with a stuffed gorilla while not wearing a bra?

Upon further investigation furrys are also known as anthros. They even create imagined identities for themselves call fursonas. Apparantley all this nonsense was originated at a science fiction convention in the 1980's. And I thought Trekkies were weird. Sorry guys, I stand corrected.

People seem to like pretending to be animals so much, they now have conventions celebrating everything furry. Many members of the furry community feel that the overly sexual component gives the rest of them a bad name, and may use the derogatory term "furvert" to describe such people. But let's focus on those such people, because it's way more entertaining then someone who saw The Fox And The Hound way too many times.

It's safe to say according to some lame statistic taken in 1997 that 75% of the furry people are having sex with another furry person. However, furry porn has been banned at conventions because they fear legal issues. Last time I checked, beastiality was illegal, not beasitiality acts drawn by adults who secretly desire to commit beasitality. With humans. I know, it's confusing, but try to keep up.

Apparantley in January there is a furry convention in my neck of the woods. My morbid curiousity may just about force me to attend, with a notepad, camera, and a taser gun. I will buy the first convention go-er I see who is out of costume a beer, and politley ask him, "So..what would you say is your power animal?"
